Get Ready for Digital Transformation

The rules of business are being rewritten nearly every day with the imperative for business digital transformation. Companies must now be continuously reinventing their business – with technology at the core – or watch from the sidelines while their market is disrupted by organizations proficient at digital transformation.
This Panel Discussion will be moderated by Mr. Marcos Oliveira from IBM GARS (Global Asset Recovery Services). The Panel will offer an intersectional view of the ITAD sector and apply those insights to address the following topics:

•    Digital Transformation: What does it mean and why is it so important for businesses today?
•    Business professionals are now used to working from anywhere (from the train, from the bus, from the car, from the plane). With all these technological changes happening quickly, how will future of work and business be affected? How does the rapidly evolving environment impact IT asset lifecycles, data sanitization and the overall ITAD process?
•    We have seen in the past few years customers migrating from HW acquisition to cloud or infrastructure as a service. What disruptive market trends are on the horizon?
•    What trends in digital transformation do ITADs need to focus on in the near-, medium- and long-term?

Get Ready for R2 Revision 3

R2 Rev 3 is set to shake up certification for most ITAD businesses. With new requirements assessing the competence of test and repair staff, more stringent verification of testing methods and equipment as well as an increase in requirements for data sanitization means that most R2 Certified businesses would now fail the updated R2 certification.

Bob McCarthy, VP of Business Development at Cobalt Recycling has dedicated a wealth of resources in fully understanding and implementing R2 Rev3 with his ITAD team. Bob will explain exactly what Rev3 means for your business and how to implement it. And with many businesses set to lose their R2 certification shortly, you will learn just how you can position yourself to take full advantage of this change in the market.

ITAD Opportunities in Mobile Devices: Capturing the Hidden Value of Mobile Services in Secondary Markets

Ezra will take us all on a crash course through the used mobile device value chain. Where are all the used devices coming from, who is buying them all, what are they doing to them and who is selling them all.  There is an entire industry dedicated to the collection, processing repair, restoration and recycling of used mobile devices. And at every step, someone is making money.

As an ITAD, you sit in a very unique position to capture more of the hidden value of used devices than anyone.  Are you doing everything you can do to maximize the profits you are pulling from this profitable product group?

Ezra will take you through the steps to make sure you are capturing all the value available to you and help you to identify the ways to share in the value creation down the line.  You will learn where devices are being sourced from, who is sourcing them who is buying them and where they are being sold.  Additionally, you come away with a better appreciation for how selecting the right partners in the value creation process will help you generate more profit for your business.

The Blockchain Revolution Is Coming To ITAD. Are You Making Plans?

Everyone knows that Blockchain is transforming global supply chains, but it’s also driving the next generation internet. Industry blockchains will soon overlay “the internet,” changing the face of e-commerce. Interoperability standards will soon allow industries to digitally connect their supply chains. Will ITAD get left behind?

The "Open Blockchain for Asset Disposition Alliance" (OBADA) is an open-source protocol that “gets us on the same blockchain”. It also gives our industry a “voice” in determining how outside supply chains will connect to the ITAD ecosystem. Learn about OBADA, the Pilot Program, and be ready when blockchain starts to roll out in 2020.

Scott Austin will discuss how blockchain technology supports efficiency, accountability and conformance in ITAD and a pilot now under development and supported by the Department of Energy that will be the first demonstration of electronic lifecycle management on blockchain.

Final Thoughts: Evolution in the ITAD Industry – A Seismic Shift or a Minor Tremor?

With the recent announcement by Arrow regarding their decision to exit the ITAD market, this session discusses the industry changes that drove this decision and what can be done to adjust to this changing landscape.

•    Is the buying spree by logistics and product distribution companies over the last decade now just a footnote in the history of our industry?
•    What drove those acquisitions and were they profitable/strategic?
•    How is our industry responding to these changes?
•    How are changes in recycling, value recovery and costs impacting the industry?
•    Does this present opportunities for ITAD companies to create new business models and alliances?
